The kid from Melbourne that died - my opinion in a few lines:
- Had a shitty worldview.
- Did not deserve to die.
- Will be used as a martyr by SCS kiddies.
In conclusion, fuck this situation.

So basically, due to the dollar sucking, I've made the decision to piss off the travel to the US next year, instead opting to stay here, go to uni and work. I'm also gonna use the spillover funds to build myself a new bike cause I'm tired of riding my dads roadie everywhere. It's good fun but it's not mine and I've broken enough other peoples bikes to not really want to do that anymore.
Anyway the basic idea here is to build up a do everything roadie reasonably cheaply. The only definites at the moment are the frame (on-one il pompino frameset) and Sugino cranks. Singlespeed/fixed flip flop that I'll probably always stick to the freewheel side of, and spds. Toughish wheels for occasional cyclocross escapades when it rains. I'm just keen on a simple, comfortable bike that I WANT to ride everywhere. I enjoy it as is but other peoples gear is bothering me.
Definitely gonna be a sweaty summer. Already planning next years multi-day rides. keen.

FASCISM SUX
Making this post because today I became aware of the fact that the leader of the BNP (basically a british nazi equivalent, really) is planning a tour of Australia to support the Australian Protectionist Party (BULLSHIT) and talk about "the experiences of the BNP in their fight to protect Britain and its people from the demographic genocide that is threatening their homeland". Basically, a nationalist fuck that has been embroiled in too many controversies to count is inviting another racist cunt who has actually made some headway in UK politics to give wristies to "proud aussies" - read, SS ute driving, southern cross tattooed, impolite, intolerant bogan fucks. They are making headway in the shire and have four members standing in sydney. Let us hope this does not spread.
Naturally, I and many others don't want this to happen, so I encourage you all to follow fightdemback's lead, and call the minister for immigration and tell him that it's NOT ON. The person to call is Senator Chris Evans, 02 6277 7860.
Propaganda and fliers here, spam them to people at shows, in the street, cafe, wherever. Limit the fuckwits influence over here.

LOADS OF NONSENSICAL JUNK
I guess the title is true to a certain degree, but I'd like to maintain some sort of coherence, so maybe not.
life
THis week began slowly for me - day after day of short, yet still day runing hours has finally gotten to me. My outer crust (lol, crust) of pleasantness to the customers and gormless employees at work is finally starting to get to. Realising that these people are those that I spend most of my time around at the moment was pretty sobering I guess. To put this into perspective, I work for a large fast food chain in an industrial area - each and every day I put up with countless bogans who expect sevice faster than is humanly possible, office workers with no understanding of basic courtesy and tradies getting drunk, IN THE CAR, on the way to work. The majority of the people I work with will likely end up the same way, but I try not to think about that too much.
Thursday night I saw my friends electronic weirdness group, babyfreeze, and two others play at Bar 32. The turnout was quite dissapointing, especially seeing as more than half the people there left immediately after the second band strummed their first chord. I amused myself by standing out the front, waiting for alcohol fuelled violence between morons from the clubs nearby to laugh at. It didn't happen. I proceeded to play video games well into the night.
bikes:
With warmer weather kicking in, more and more hipsters, families, dorks, bogans and pretty much everyone are getting on their bies and riding wherever they need to go. I hope that this continues, what with the coming recession and all. I'm really keen on this continuing, even through winter for a change. Leg warmers and gloves don't cost enough for Canberra winter to be an excuse.
Cycling infrasturcture seems to be a fairly big point in the local elections this year, and this can only be a good thing. I hope it gets to a point where the CBD is a car free pedestrian and cyclist friendly plaza - only motorised vehicle access to service cars and emergency services. Won't be for a long time but one can dream.
My buddy jonos singlespeed on the cheap is almost complete. He was surprisingly not picky about it and it seems to be going ok, but hes ordered some shitty wheels that will probably die within a week. Dissapointing really, seeing how much he is looking forward to this thing.
24 hour race is going on over at Stromlo as I type, unfortunately Carcass tomorrow/tonight sort of takes priority over it. I suggest that dudes come and ride in it next year, or at least go to hang out cause the atmosphere is pretty amazing, and the solo men and women are batshit insane. I don't know who had the idea to ride a bike, in hostile conditions, non stop for 24 hours was, but they are fairly cruel.
Couple of parts/news things from the previous weeks:
New Shimano Yumeya hop ups for XTR are beautiful, but completely worthless. $600+ to save less than 30g wait? fuck that for a joke.
Some company is doing a biopace thing again. SOMEONE TELL ME WHY.
Lance Armstrong schooled the fuck out of Greg Lemond re:comeback. word. Looked like Mercxx was about to knock Greg the fuck out.

beats
Goooooooood couple of weeks coming up - Carcass tomorrow, Conquest for Death tuesday, TAIPAN/REPOMAN/EATABRICK etc on the 24th I think? so keen.
THis weeks acquisiotions have been the new Blasphemophagher record and the Trench Hell MLP. Both have exceeded expectations - the Trench Hell is easily one of the best Aussie thrash records in recent memory, I would go so far as to rate it over the output of most of the larger aussie blacened thrash bands. I seriously rate it harder than I do D666 or Atomizer. Fucking fantastic, their 7", Alcoholic Disaster is also very good. If you know me irl, hit me up and I'll dub you a copy or something.
The Blasphemophager release is also great, sits in the vibe of early Beherit but has some cool rockier bits thrown in for good measure. Good at first listen but still growing on me. I havent heard their 10" but I will say that this release is on par with their great split with Bestial Raids, which I'm fairly sure is getting rereleased soon.
Exuse the actual lack of smack talk in prior posts. Ill name names next time.
